SUMMARY:NZTech Women Lunch Wellington
DESCRIPTION:Due to overwhelming demand\, we have had to change venue! This lunch will now be held at St Johns Bar & Restaurant on Cable Street. \nJoin us for lunch on International Women’s Day and be #BeBoldForChange.  Hear BNZ’s Head of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)\, Lana West discuss how to drive change toward gender parity. \nLast year\, organisations around the world supported #PledgeForParity and called for the creation of inclusive\, flexible work cultures and valuing everyone’s contributions equally.  However\, the World Economic Forum predicts the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186!   What if the world stepped up sooner and took bold action?  Learn how to value diversity and provide an environment of inclusiveness where people flourish.  Gain insight into the development of D&I strategy\, plus the challenges and opportunities of D&I initiatives. \nNZTech board member Eva Sherwood invites you to continue the IWD celebrations at Oracle’s post-lunch networking event in honour of women’s remarkable contribution to our society. Please bring a friend or colleague and join us for drinks and nibbles from 4pm on 8 March at Avida Bar\, (Corner of Johnston and Featherston Streets). \nAbout Lana:\nLana West is proud of her heritage as a Kiwi Samoan.  Growing up in Auckland\, she describes herself as part-islander\, part-mainlander acknowledging her Samoan father and her mother from Dunedin.  The 10th of 11 children in her family\, her life has been firmly focused on family\, respect and living in a way that shows courage\, strength and humility.  Whilst Lana always thought she would follow her parents into the medical field\, her studies saw her instead embarking on a career in banking and human resources.  She has worked in New Zealand\, Australia and Samoa.  Outside of work\, Lana has a love of sports and has played netball both provincially and internationally. Community remains important to Lana and she currently either coaches or manages several teams.  Lana has a teenage son and in her own words\, is also wildly proud of her cricket coaching Norwegian/Yorkshire husband. \nDresscode:  #BeBoldForChange and ditch your black corporate uniform.
