In an election year, it’s easy for long-term priorities to get lost in the noise. That’s exactly why we’ve launched our Tech and Innovation Manifesto 2026. We’re showing exactly how technology can create a better tomorrow for Aotearoa New Zealand.
As a nation, we’re at a crossroads, and technology is the way forward. Our technology sector already contributes $24 billion to GDP, employs more than 119,000 people, and exports $11.4b annually with tech exports growing five times faster than the broader economy. The opportunity in front of us is real, and it’s growing.
But unlocking the full value of that opportunity will take more than market momentum. It requires clear, consistent policy settings and long-term investment in the right foundations, decisions that outlast election cycles. Without decisive action, our productivity is lagging, our talent is departing, and our infrastructure deficit is growing.
That’s why we’ve put politics aside and set out a bipartisan plan, built with input from Tech New Zealand’s 16 communities and more than 2,000 members, focused on four long-term foundations:
- Digital infrastructure
- Clean energy advantage
- Investment and talent
- Exports and global growth
