In 2022, Netsafe and Tech New Zealand launched the Aotearoa New Zealand Code of Practice for Online Safety and Harms, joined by tech firms Meta, Google, TikTok, Twitch and X (formerly Twitter). Together, we are committed to reducing the risk of online content that may cause harm to New Zealanders.
To help address the growth in financial scams, Tech New Zealand launched the New Zealand Online Scams Code in 2025, joined by Google, Meta and TikTok.
ONLINE SAFETY CODE
This voluntary Code addresses bullying, child safety, disinformation, harassment, hate speech and misinformation.
ONLINE SCAMS CODE
This voluntary Code has 38 commitments which span blocking, takedown and advertiser verification measures.
