BlockchainNZ & FinTechNZ presents: The Great Merge — TradFi Meets DeFi: Building the Future of Finance in Aotearoa

BlockchainNZ and FinTechNZ are bringing senior leaders from banks, investment firms, KiwiSaver providers, wealth consultants, advisers, and institutional investors together with DeFi founders, infrastructure builders, and stablecoin issuers. Regulators, media, and academia will also be in the room to discuss how the convergence of traditional and decentralised finance could reshape New Zealand’s financial ecosystem.

We’ll explore real-world case studies where TradFi and DeFi already intersect, the compliance and operational frameworks enabling hybrid finance, and how products like stablecoins can bridge decentralised protocols with traditional systems. The focus: practical pathways to greater accessibility, efficiency, and transparency across financial services in New Zealand.

Key themes:

  • TradFi x DeFi case studies: what’s working now and why
  • Operating models: risk, compliance, custody, and governance for hybrid finance
  • Stablecoins: a bridge between decentralised rails and traditional systems
  • Market readiness: what value DeFi brings to institutions and advisers
  • Regulatory clarity: what needs to shift to move NZ forward
  • New capital flows: unlocking innovative investment products and models

Who should attend:

  • Banks, KiwiSaver providers, investment firms, wealth consultants, and financial advisers
  • DeFi founders, infrastructure builders, stablecoin issuers
  • Institutional investors, regulators, academics, and media

Speakers: Keynote speakers and panel details to be announced soon.
